Digital Guardian has announced general availability of Version 7.6, its latest endpoint Data Loss Protection (DLP) agent for macOS. It adds

The release also supports previous macOS versions, 10.14 Mojave and 10.13 High Sierra, for enterprises still running those versions. Mac adoption across the enterprise continues to increase, and the benefits of using Apple devices running macOS are becoming more apparent.

Speaking at the Jamf Nation User Conference (JNUC) 2019, IBM CIO Fletcher Previn reported IBM employees who use Apple devices have a longer tenure with the company and exceed performance expectations when compared to PC users running Windows. In addition, in performance reviews 22% of macOS users exceeded expectations compared to Windows users; in sales, MacOS users also tend to close deals that are 16% higher than Windows users.

“Mac devices often contain some of the most valuable data and intellectual property within the business due to the profile of the user, which typically include senior executives and R&D engineers,” says Ben Cody, senior vice president, Product Management, Digital Guardian. “Since its inception, Digital Guardian has been an organization dedicated to data protection on macOS. Whether organizations leverage macOS exclusively or selectively, security professionals require a comprehensive DLP solution to monitor and protect their most sensitive data.”

He says Digital Guardian delivers all the capabilities infosec leaders need to protect sensitive data on Apple devices running macOS, including:

° Enterprise Data Visibility: Digital Guardian records endpoint events to deliver insights to prevent data loss. Predefined workspaces let security teams view and sort events like data egress or classified file access on macOS.

° Active Blocking: Unlike other data protection offerings for macOS, Digital Guardian allows infosec leaders to proactively stop data loss – before it happens – rather than just alerting on a security incident after the fact. The Digital Guardian Agent for macOS can view data events in the apps and automate actions or security professionals themselves can right click to remediate in real-time.

° Compatibility with Windows and Linux Platforms: Organizations have less flexibility to dictate what machines employees and business partners use than ever before. Digital Guardian’s cross-platform endpoint DLP agents can operate seamlessly within macOS, Windows, and Linux environments. Digital Guardian puts an organization’s most sensitive information assets at the center of all data protection, activity monitoring, and response activities – regardless of the operating system.
